Quebec, a unique francophone province of the proud and vast Canada. Regarding important aspects such as economy, health, law and mostly civil rights, everything seems to be fine…or is it? Let’s take a quick analyzing look at Quebec’s young teens, the adults of tomorrow: clear statistics show that the school drop off rate is increasing vastly even as you are about to read this “once in a life time” text! Why you ask? By the end of your informative yet, astonishing lecture you will surely find out.
As you slowly walk toward the student’s entrance, no matter if it’s a low class budget school or a high one, you will see the muddy unclean floor covered of used environment threatening cigars and unending numbers of everyday average students smoking intoxicating joints or begging different people to sell them a measly cigar for 50 cents as if there was no bloody tomorrow. As shocking as it may seem it’s the inevitable breath-taking truth… it makes one ask, where or how do the parents fit into this depressing black and white picture. French Canadian teens are mostly out of control, they have no responsibility, no moral and no manners, all of this because a lot of Quebec’s families lack common-sense order and need a more traditional classic judgment (or so I believe).
The old fashion American family is now mostly a lost myth in the clouds of ignorance and despair… these days, love couples in Quebec don’t even consider the sacred marriage an important none-optional issue…when they go to a fancy restaurant, for instance, they pay their own separate bill… doesn’t that feel a bit wrong? Returning to the kid’s issue, it seems that the parents don’t really give to much importance regarding their dearest children’s future; they prefer to let the old leash loose and let them on their own like a bunch of street hounds in this massive world full of life changing corruption and temptations that I dare not to speak off.
As you curiously enter in any class of your optimistic choice, you will also notice that the way most guys and girls look is simply mind blowing unacceptable. The healthy looking athletic guys are replaced by a bunch of half-asleep slobs with painful piercings all over their zombie-like faces, one freaky metal(or other “popular” materials) earring, colored unwashed hair and some cloths that clearly look like they were taken out of a New York City forgotten dumpster. The young fresh, energetic, enthusiastic girls are replaced by a pack of TV-brainwashed rebel chicks having their once-lovely faces covered with one hundred buckets of cheap quality make-up and also looking surely wasted by all the consumed tobacco or drugs. What are the “daydreaming” parents doing about this, for what mysterious unknown to-die-for reason isn’t anything happening? There are three possible explanations:
“1. They don’t have the time and patience to deal with it.
2. They ran out of “legal” solutions.
Or.
3. They were raised themselves by a bunch of hippies.”
Another aspect of the parent’s lack of guidance is their children’s rebellious attitude. For instance whenever a teacher or an adult tries to discipline them they react arrogantly, vulgarly and aggressively which is completely unbearable. What happened to the old fashion “can-do” attitude? Students walk on the school halls and when they see their teachers they don’t even bother saying “Hello”. The irresponsibility of today’s Quebec teens surpasses any limits of Europe’s education. When you look if there is any room to get a detention, you need to wait about four days to make a reservation… all because the lists are full. Some students don’t even bother showing up to their “retenue” and when they get suspended because of it, they take it as a joke thinking they are cool, not even realizing that their background permanent record will mark them for life hunting them whenever they want to apply to a certain college or university. Such words as “punishment” or “disappointment” don’t even exist in their family-code-of-life.
Finally, “putting the cherry on top”, one if the main factors today’s teens are dropping out of school is because the government is promoting trade’s scholarship and easy money part-time/ full time jobs for 16+ year olds making them believe they can make a living with limited amounts of money! That’s not all, it gets worse: each year hundreds of fresh immigrants arrive in Quebec and if they aren’t prepared to face today’s situation they get sucked into the vortex of corruption, while the other immigrants study hard and go to the “top”(the potential place where all Quebecers should be). Are there any working-solutions to our problems? Until now none have been applied yet and until it will the problems will only grow more and more near a critical point.
